Successfully Handling Family Law Issues for More than 30 Years
Mediation

Boston Family Law Mediation Attorney

Sometimes it is best to work directly together while addressing family law issues such as child custody, parenting time, child support, alimony, and property division. Through mediation, you and your spouse, or child's other parent, work with a neutral person who will gather information about your family dispute and meet with both of you to find a solution.

I have more than 30 years of family law experience as a Boston family law attorney and mediator. I will use this experience to help you reach a settlement of your divorce or paternity case in the least stressful way. I may recommend mediation or collaborative law to resolve your divorce without the combative atmosphere of a courtroom. In addition to providing legal advice to individuals engaged in the mediation process, I also serve as a mediator when I do not have a lawyer-client relationship with either party.

Mediation is focused on your needs. The mediator will meet with you and your spouse to share information and discover your goals. Then the mediator will help you and your spouse or child's other parent seek a solution together, with guidance based on the law. Usually, your lawyer will not be a part of the mediation process but can advise you before or after the sessions. As your attorney, I can represent you during mediation to ensure that you know your rights and are achieving your desired result.

You may also use divorce mediation to help resolve a single issue such as child custody, a parenting plan, or property division. By agreeing to resolve the issue through the use of a mediator, you may be able to reach an out-of-court settlement. In a case of contested child custody, mediation can help parents reach a resolution without exposing their children to the conflict of a traditional, litigated divorce.

If mediation is not successful, you are not bound by the results. You retain the option of litigating any unresolved issues in court.

Seek the help of a strong advocate during the mediation process. My more than 30 years of experience in Massachusetts family law enable me to give you guidance on resolving your divorce through the mediation process.
